The minute microcenter gets the Xtreme in stock, I am taking this board back...it is unbearable. K. kapone32. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. Mainly because the fan almost never spins. 2016: Dec | Nov. and join one of thousands of communities. I am about to order the ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (WiFi) as it looks like the best choice for me but I am concerned about the lifetime of the chipset fan. Yeah I’m using just a regular nvme in the cpu lane and I also dropped my GPU to pci gen 3 and turned off boost at the moment and temps have been much better than at stock. [–]ckmanux 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (1 child). I didn't know it specifically needed a type C header so thats good to know. On Asus, ASRock & Gigabyte the fans is fully or partially covered with a big graphics card. [–]Foritain-Techtesters[S] 5 points6 points7 points 1 year ago (0 children). It says in the graph, but I understand it's easy to miss: Used the Silent settings for the idle comparison (because, no reason -not- to), but the default for the load comparison. Seriously this annoys me so much. Other than that it works flawlessly, temps are at 70c with high settings. 2018: Dec | Nov | Oct | Sep | Aug | Jul | Jun | May | Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan What is the VRM like on the elite vs the msi Gaming Plus? Yea. [–]Foritain-Techtesters[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (4 children). Breaking this cycle would require one of three things: either AMD and Intel agree to freely license their patent portfolio openly under FRAND terms (will probably never happen); there could also be patent reform which addresses problematic rent-seeking or monopolist patenting behavior; or lastly, around 2024 or so, someone could actually try to make an x86-compatible CPU, but have completely incompatible instructions for things like AVX, that wouldn't violate patents, but this means compilers would have to be modified to optimize for both instruction sets, and switch at runtime between different codepaths depending on the CPU, and with enough pressure, maybe eventually we'd be free of the x86 duopoly. Altho most of us are very satisfied, more information is a powerful tool to a perfectly happy consumer. [–]smartid 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (2 children), are you able to hear coil whine when it happens, or is it too high frequency for your ears to pick up, [–]Foritain-Techtesters[S] 4 points5 points6 points 1 year ago (0 children). a 39 dB chipset fan at 10cm will be inaudible in a decent case 50cm from you. The all-new design is a testament to GIGABYTE's dedication to design quality. As small fans can have pretty high pitch noise. Most PC builders dislike the fact that most AMD X570 motherboards ship with fan-assisted chipset heatsinks, potentially adding unwanted fan noise to high-end desktop systems. 2020: Q4 | Q3 | Q2 | Q1 [–]Chronic_MediaAMD 7 points8 points9 points 1 year ago (0 children). It might start a trend where at least the source code of projects would be opened up, and then distros could have binaries for different architectures in their repositories. I am just going to get the max boards when they arrive. Via has x86 license so yeah if via can come back we would have a 3rd competitor, [–]azeiaRyzen 9 3950X | Radeon RX 560 4GB 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago (3 children). but i think we both agree. As matter of fact my entire setup with the Corsair 500D SE RGB and 5x 120mm LL case fans and Be Quiet Dark Rock Slim cooler and fan has been much quieter than I had originally anticipated to the point fan noise is drowned out by ambient and I only hear the system running if the room is silent. Of course, as noted in the description of the video, that doesn't go for the ITX board as it simply doesn't have a chipset gen4 x16 slot (which might explain why it doesn't seem bothered to spin up much). Arguably all CPUs are hitting limits now, due to the end of Moore's law, which I think is a much bigger problem than the limitations of x86 (which mostly have to do with power inefficiency due to the decoder). what about the temperature when the fan is off? For other extensions just check Wikipedia. You may also want to use /r/AMDHelp and /r/TechSupport. Got my Aorus x570 Master motherboard and will be replacing the x570 chipset fan with Watercool's Heatkiller NB/SB chipset Waterblock. 1-D_FE. Maybe WebAssembly is a start; it's the first such general-purpose bytecode developed I think. When I spoke to ASRock they did mention a new bios but specifically did not mention a passive fan mode :-/. ps3,360 then port to pc. Short Version: It isn't enough to matter between the various motherboards. How often does the fan need to be on (assuming just one or two SSD)? But that's about right. I would love to see like an experiment showing how hard would it be for an end user to change the fan on their own if it breaks down, but that requires a lot of tinkering. GB is not my favorite brand but they are in my top 3. Let's start over: you can completely ignore any claims, comparisons or measurements provided by the manufacturer. At the moment, on my x570-e board the fan speed control for the chipset fan is not present. I know it seems far-fetched, but we're postulating a world where Linux has already become the primary mainstream OS; in such a world it might have a domino effect and cause other projects to become open, perhaps through competition. [–]yqtyyz 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (4 children). I have to use the low power mode when just browsing else the cpu fan randomly revs up. I would prefer a proper beefy heatsink if needed. I can just agree with that (as in MSI board being quiet), my Gaming Pro Carbon is very quiet. I certainly don't think it'll happen anytime soon. [–]Geistbar 4 points5 points6 points 1 year ago (0 children). Same on the Asus crosshair VIII Hero WiFi. Zero compatibility issues, good fan profiles, great feature set, and I'm pretty sure gigabyte has had the AB bios update for a few weeks now so they've been really on top of bios updates so far. If a post is made and it is not clear how it relates to AMD, an explanation in the thread will be required upon posting that details how it is relevant. X570 Chipset Temperatures and Fan Noise. Most startups would not want their early days of business to be marred in legal troubles, so in practice we're not likely to see any competitors in the x86 arena anytime soon. This is literally why I chose the Gigabyte Master x570 board over everything else as I saw this discussion playing out on their message boards. I didn't change anything. photoshop, after effects, ableton 10, as well as gaming. AMD X570 Chipset Comparer . AMD and some board manufacturers talk about 10 to 12 watts on average, rather with the … If we could recompile all software with a Thanos snap to run on another arch, and that arch had competitive performance, there would be no reason for it to be "CISC", at least not in the traditional sense, although it might still have additional instruction sets, but no one refers to PowerPC as a "CISC" design just because it can have additional instructions. The board with the best passive cooling (all else being equal) would have the best chance of having the fan spin for as little as possible - at least I would assume so. Rule 8: Straw polls and Reddit polls are not allowed - We encourage discussion and debate. GB is not my favorite brand but they are in my top 3. Hopefully Asus implements a fans off mode as well. It's a clever loophole, but courts have in the past convicted organizations of infringement for "circumvention tactics" as well, since some judges go by contractual "intent" legal doctrine, so this is not without risk. There wouldn't be much point in stressing a GPU in the CPU lane slots right? Otherwise you cant hook up your case's type-c port. Next thing, VRM fans. AMD X570 Chipset. I would peek at the Aorus Elite though. It's worth noting that this kind of centralized business model and arrogance is what fucked Apple over back in the 70s/80s. Even on Silent, it's the loudest part of my system. Eh, I wouldn't praise the motherboard market too much. I will likely end up with the elite and will likely save 100 dollars or so too! [–]maha420[] 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (0 children). For the price I think the Gaming Plus looks the best. CISC is kind of pointless. Rule 2: No referral or affiliate links - referral or affiliate links are not allowed. I set the fan to 0 duty cycle which stopped it fully and the system noise stayed the same while chipset temps (in HWinfo, since this tool doesn't seem to acquire the chipset temp value) started climbing so it definitely was off. Now I can supplement that with videos of a geeky girl. If so how customizable is it? The chipset fan on my X570-E Gaming is pretty silent as far as I am aware. The first one to release a passively cooled x570 motherboard will shower in money after all. At last, someone did this! We'll have some X570 builds in the coming weeks, we'll at least see if some interesting data pops up to dive into that further. I'm not sure how easy/hard it would be to find the actual replacement for any of them. Most people in the open source community, myself included, are vehemently against software patents and think they just destroy innovation and cause rent-seeking behavior. Seems like a bad idea to be able to patent an instruction set. [–]rafamundezAMD|3900x|32 GB 4000 MHz CL19|Titan RTX|x570 Gigabyte Aorus I 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago* (3 children). I just wanted to say great video. Personally I think it's only a matter of time before ARM Replaces X86. 1) The X570 chipset has a fan - but basically all of the X570 range except the halo-tier boards have a chipset fan. (Unless you count the Parrot VM bytecode developed for perl6.). You simply cannot take theoretical sound discussion and apply it either to either specs from a manufacturer or someone's particular setup. But still arm can outperform x86 with efficiency you can cram 4 apple a12 that require a little bit of cooling and the performance will be waaaay better but still software is the big problem so yeah X86 for advanced users. I would prefer a proper beefy heatsink if needed. I couldnt believe it at the time. Was she inspired by hardwarecunucks video style?
